Peele Hall, Little Mouldsworth (today's Horton-cum-Peele)

Originally built within a moat, it was purchased by Henry Gee, Mayor of Chester, who left it to his daughter Anne. Wm III was entertained here. It was later purchased by the Earl of Plymouth. A peel was the fortified house of a person of significance, although not a noble. Likely this defended the Welsh border.
